Editorial Policy
Our goal is to help contractors prepare for licensing exams and understand licensing steps without wasting time on outdated or mismatched requirements. We separate exam practice (timed drills) from licensing guidance (requirements, references, and official sources).
How we write and review
- Intent-first structure: We organize pages around what people search (practice exam, Business & Law, code books, requirements, FAQs).
- Source-first checks: For requirements, we start with the licensing authority and the current candidate bulletin/exam provider guidance.
- Plain language: We write for busy contractors—short checklists, clear steps, and links to official documents.
Updates and freshness
Licensing rules can change. We display a “last verified” note on state pages and link to official sources. If you see something that looks wrong or outdated, please contact us and we’ll investigate quickly.
Corrections
- What we correct: outdated fees, expired links, incorrect exam providers, code book editions, or board requirements.
- How we correct: we update the page, record the new verification note, and prioritize fixes that affect licensing decisions.
